MSP Thermostrips check your press temperature. Thermostats control the heat and thermostats wear out. Your heat transfer paper or vinyl will not press if the temperature is too low or too high. Moreover, it is always a good practice to test your press to assure the thermostat is working. That makes sense. MSP Thermostrips are the most accurate and easiest way to test heat press temperature we know of.

MSP Thermostrips check your press temperature. Thermostats control the temperature of your heat press and thermostats wear out. Your heat transfer paper or vinyl will not press correctly if the temperature is wrong. Testing your press periodically to make sure the thermostat is working makes good sense and saves money. Who doesn't like saving money?

MSP Thermostrips are single-use, heat sensitive strips, used to test heat press temperature. The heat sensitive elements change color, white to black at rated temperature. MSP Thermostrips are self-adhering strips divided into eight heat sensitive elements ranging from 330 - 400° F. They come in packages of eight. We recommend testing your press quarterly to insure thermostat accuracy. MSP Thermostrips are the most accurate and easiest way to test heat press temperature we know of.

There are two ways to use the MSP Thermostrip:

Method #1 – Using one strip
Remove the MSP Thermostrip from its plastic backing. Place strip in the center of the lower platen of your press. Cover the MSP Thermostrip with parchment, copy paper, or pressing sheet. DO NOT cover MSP Thermostrips with a Teflon sheet. A Teflon sheet will reduce accuracy as much as 15 degrees.

Press the thermostrip for 5 to 10 seconds to activate the strip. There will be a light to dark color change. The highest temperature reached is between the last black temperature element, and the first gray/white temperature element. To avoid leaving adhesive residue, allow MSP Thermostrip to cool before peeling off test surface.

Method #2 – Using five strips
Place strips on all four corners and in the center of the lower platen of the heat press. Press as described above. Observe rated temperature, and then compare each strip for consistency to get an accurate reading.

MSP Thermostrips are not waterproof. Do not use with liquids or high ambient humidity. Store MSP Thermostrips in a cool, dry place, or in the sealed plastic bag your strips come packaged in.
